It’s not just in the workplace where we have to deal with people and learn how to get along. You also have to deal with people at home, at the store, or even on the side of the road filling out a police report. Yes, yesterday while I was picking my son up from school, a lady backed right into my new van. Oh! What a sickening feeling. I now understand why people say it’s like it happened in slow motion. I could see it coming, and knew there was absolutely nothing I could do about it. She felt horrible. I could have made her feel worse by getting angry. However, I knew that me getting angry would not help the situation.
People you are in contact with are going to mess up. They’re going to do something that frustrates you. But, guess what. You’re going to have those kind of days too. Sometimes a little bit of grace and forgiveness will go a lot farther than harsh words.
