With two of our boys in college now, my husband and I are shifting from the role of parenting to one of guiding. Instead of telling them what to do, we now listen and ask questions, but let them make the final decisions.
At work, it can also be hard to let go of a project, especially if it’s your “baby”. Even though you’re confident in your team’s abilities, it’s hard to let go. Just like our kids, we need to give our teams clear instructions and the tools to complete the task, but then empower them to do the work independently.
